As a keen WordPress user, some of my biggest sites are in WordPress, I always approach a new WordPress release with some caution. I have never had any bad experiences that haven’t been my own fault with WordPress updates and Plugin installs but it pays to be cautious when you have client’s websites at stake!
So I resisted the urge to just click the ‘Update Now’ button on the backend and waited until I had some spare time on the weekend.
Databases are backed up daily so it was just a case of taking a download of all the sites (minus my hundreds of images) and uploading the WordPress 3.1 update over the top.
Everything went fine – Multi-user update okay – plugins all working – sites all back up and running.
