To keep an eye on my websites I use a tool called Pingdom. What it basically does is checks up on your website at a set period of time (eg 15 minutes) to make sure the pages get returned okay. It lets me relax safe in the knowledge that should the untoward happen and something fails on the server, then I get an email/text saying so. I’ve amalgamated 6 websites into 1 using WordPress Multisite. For me it was to make life easy to update, backup and deploy new sites. Will see how it goes but all seems fine so far.
